We had the cab burn up on this 8960 last fall. Investigators said the cause was electrical - though the exact source could not be pinpointed. Tractor had been shut down and parked for about 12 hours before it went up.

That's why all our equipment has extinguishers & a wrench fitting the battery terminals in the tool box.

Who watches it when your not around? That's
when most fires happen.

Lots of cheap insurance due to master battery shut off switch(s) & heat detectors tied into the security system.
An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure.

Our 2840 had the positive battery cable short out and smoked and burnt the insulation off, I stood by with the fire extinguisher but only unhooking the cable fixed it.

Your tractor is somewhere between 9 and 14 years old. What type of 'factory defect' are you suspicious of?
