Well I've tried to narrow it down to three mfg'rs. I'm looking for a ccompact diesel from NH, JD, or Kubota. I'm looking in the 20-25HP range, with loader, 4wd. Any input here is greatly appreciated. I'm real curious about the New Holland TC22, does anyone have any info on this series. What does this replace from 5-10 years back? Follow Ups: |

| | John, any of the 3 mentioned would be good. I have an '86 JD 1050 3 cyl turbo deidel, 4WD, ~35 pto HP. Love it. I have a 12 acre truck farm and it's just the right size. Not too big to turn around, and powerful enough to do anything I would want to do. Handles a 2 bottom with ease, 5ft brush hog, disc, etc. I don't have a loader on it so no help there. I have a friend who just bought a NH TC25 with loader, backhoe, and brush hog and loves it. If you can get over the price of a new one, great. If not, check the used ones at dealers or in the papers. Here in NE Ohio, we get the Farm & Dairy which has a large classified of used equipment. good luck Mark Follow Ups: |

| John, I don't have one of these brands. I own a 1250-4 (32 hp) Massey. I have put 500 hours on it in about 11 months. I have had no problems with it. I looked at JD,Kubota and NH before I bought. After looking at them I bought the Massey because I got more tractor for less money. For compact information look at this link. JerryG Follow Ups: |

| | I just bought a New Holland TC33D at Christmas last year. Got it with a belly mower and front end loader. Be carefuel of purchasing these two implements separately because the rear mounts for the loader are special to fit the mower lift points. I spent a lot of time on dealer lots looking at the Deere 4400 series and the NH TC's. I have 5 acres to mow, a small wood lot to work, a large truck garden to till and a wife that likes to landscape with lots of bushs and trees that require holes and tons of mulch. In my search I found that the Kubota's are almost industrial rated and cost 20% over the JD's around here in upstate South Carolina. The JD's are about 10% higher than the NH's. I looked long and hard at maintenance and dealer support also. The NH is just easier to work on and get parts locally. The local NH dealer did a better sales job and was able to get the equipment I wanted. Both the NH's and JD compact deisels are manufactured in Georgia if that makes any difference. If you haven't bought yet, I would check out the websites for Deere and New Holland. I think Kubota has one now also. If you are buying new NH had a financing special the end of last year which finally helped make my decision, 3.9% for 3 years. It made it cheaper than taking the money out of the bank. I have been buying the rest of my implements, tiller, 12" dia. post hoe digger as funds have allowed but the NH accepts all CAT 1 implements and deluxe 3 pt. hitch on the TC "D" models is worth it. Hope this helps. Frank Follow Ups: |
