We have a 1978 County 1174 with the 16x4 dual power gearbox,6 cylinder 174hp diesel engine.On average she will do 35mph on the road without any trouble,and we were wondering why!!!

| County 1174 top speed should be 22.54 mph or
36.27kph.which was very fast for a tractor
when that was built.It should have got a 7600 tranmission but County where well known for altering crown wheels etc.Did your tractor belong to the MOD when new? Where are you in the uk?

| Our County was brought from a dealer in Hampshire in 1989, not sure if she is ex mod. We are in West Sussex.

| Just had a look in the files - according to the V5 she was sold at a Government surplus sale in 1988, and the general opinion is she is ex-Forestry Commission.

| The evidence all points to it not being standard agricultral spec, has it had a blade on the front?It might have belonged to the RNLI,Is the three point linkage complete?

| The 3 point linkage is complete but has been fitted with quick-hitch link arms from I think a Series 10 tractor, possibly the 6610 which used to be here. There is no sign of any blade.Thanks for the help.
