I have massey 231 that the gears are "hung up" in reverse. Have tried to rock the tractor and attempt to shift out of the gear, entering through the fill cap and manually synchronize with a long screw driver and just about to pull my hair out. Not just too sure what I am suppose to be pulling on in the area to get to synchronize or if I am missing all the "forks" to synchronize. What can i do short of waiting 4 weeks to get it in the shop???? |

| Take the top cover off the transmission. You will see the shift rails and the notches in the fork on the rail where the levers engage. With a prybar, move the rails so that the notches in each fork are aligned with each other, side by side. That ~should~ be 'neutral'. Replace the cover making sure that the levers are properly engaged in the fork. That should get you mobile. However..................... if it's locking in gear or going into two gears at once you probably have worn shift levers or forks (or both) and possibly some bad detent balls/springs that should prevent two rails from moving at the same time. If it presists in doing this yo want to get it fixed before you do get it jammed in 2 gears and bust a gear...Rod |

| This sounds like one for David P in South Wales to sort out! Try asking this on the Massey Ferguson Forum on the Yesterday"s Tractors forum. |
