I hate these things. Flat flange type things with center depressed 1/2" square drive. They seal good but often stick and are hard to remove. I've used a 120 ft. lb impact wrench, heat (mild), edge peen (mild) and it still won't move. Who has had good success removing these and what was the method? I'd also be interested if they are called anything special other than the obvious drain/fill plug.

Again, the pic url = http://wsrl.org/pic/plug2.jpg

Any help most appreciated.

I've used a 1/2" drive impact driver to get those broke loose. Worst one I ever had, used BFH and cold chisel. Not much left of the plug afterwards.
