Would like to know if a 1594 case is a good tractor or not.

We just got a 1494 (1985 1600 hrs)and have put about 60 hours on it now.In my research I would not reccommend the 1594,esp.for loader 4wd work,as woodbeef says, too much motor for the rest of the tractor. Also there was a problem with one model (1594 I think) that rain water would get in the muffler and cause engine problems, they put a muffler meant for horizontal placement on top and it acted as a funnel. The 1690 case is another with a very poor reputation.Hope this is not too late.

On a whole the last of the David Brown tractors are very good machines. The 1594 suffers from some problems with it's hp vs.part sizes though if it is mfd with a loader. The dry clutch is just too small for this tractor in loader use. Other than that it is a great tractor. The powershift is one of the best of its age,cab visibility and size are good. The engine is easy for cold starting, and seems to be not too thirsty when in use. As with all tractors they need periodic maintenance. All in all a very underated tractor line!!
