Frustrated farmer

We have a 605 F round baler ( older model) with hydraulic tie that is causing us a lot of frustration. It has to be restrung after every bale because the twine breaks at the top of the tube instead of the bottom no matter how we try to adjust it. Any suggestions?

Not familiar with the J but if it is similar to my 605 D were the twine is pinched/held at the top of the tube and the twine is cut at the bottom when the tube swings past the knife.

The only times when on mine the twine happens to break at the tube top is when a knot can't get trough the narrow gap when the tie is almost done or the twine is caught around something that restricts free feeding to the tube.

(sometimes the hangup is in the twine box itself when the twine wraps around the roll end tied to the second roll

Make sure the twine flows freely from the roll to the tube when tying and have a sharp knife

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply, we really appreciate your help. The knife is gone so maybe that is the problem!

If it doesnt have a knife to cut twine it is being pulled in to. Has to have a SHARP knife. #2 check that tube can move free and smooth.
#3 check for wear from twin in tube. It will wear a grove in tube and twine will catch especialy at knots.

I think the Vermeer J uses a utility knife blade
