A friend of mine is trying to get the hub for the dual-wheel off the axle of his Case IH 7230. It will not budge. He is trying to get it off so he can change the outer axle seal. I suggested putting the dual back on and running it with the bolts out of the hub to try and break it loose. Or he might take the dual off and then unbolt the axle bell housing from the tractor and go in from that side. Don"t know if that is feasible or not. Need help please.

I always had pretty good luck by carefully driving a large chisel into the split on the hub and wedging the hub open. Be careful to not drive it to far and split the hub. If the hub is the style with the key that comes out you can dive the key through and get the hub to spin on the axel. You will have to get the broken roll pin out of the key and replace it. If it makes you fell better I have take off hundreds of those at the dealer. Never had one that was easy!
