Yes, the actual gear box is popping out, another fellow on AgTalk also hypothesized it was a bad/bent shifter fork. I would say your guess of the lever being forced into gear is certainly plausible based on our setup here. We took it in to the dealer and are awaiting the diagnosis.

In one of the 2 tractors, the dealer attempted to correct that very problem. They failed though and solved this by disconnecting the draft control on our McCormick unit, which was a functional solution. We tried to replicate the diconnection step on our Landini once it started acting up and it is not functional on it - the 3pt barely lifts off the ground now.
