Recently purchased a 1594 Case mfd cab powershift.Seems to be a reasonably good tractor so far.Is there anything I should be watching for?. It has about 600 hrs on a rebuilt motor and had a new clutch assembly installed prior to purchase.
THX.

Hello Rick,

I own a 1988 1594 4wd, one of the last ones made. A very good tractor in their day. Really a David Brown tractor with their Hydra-Shift gearbox (of which I owned many). Just make sure that someone has changed the engine oil pump or else you will have a mess on your hands. Also keep gearbox oil clean by regularly changing it and the oil. On very frosty days let the tractor stand in the yard and change gear a few times whilst not under load just to warm things up a little. They don't like starting when it is very cold so make sure that the fuel heater works properly. Don't use the button, they like that even less ! Mail me for more help if you need it. David

If the engine/motor has been rebuilt, there is only a few things to worry about. The oil pump is often something to watch, it can cause problems if not overhauled in high hours. The hydrashift gearbox can go wrong if abused. Overall not a bad machine.
