Any of you guys do any custom hogging? If so, what's a good ball park figure to charge? Do you charge by the hour, the job, etc? I realize it will vary in different areas of the country. Also, what kind of tractor/hog do you use? Is there a market for this out htere as a part-time business, like to supplement my income after forced early retirement?
Thanks in advance.

Because of the recent increase in fuel costs, and a more efficient tractor, I have raised my light bushogging to $12./hr. and heavy to $17./hr. from my previous $10.-15. I run a Kubota L35 and 5' Howes. They last 3 seasons and are paid for in first season's use.

Here in SE Missouri the going rate is $35/hr. I have a Ford 3600 diesel & 6' Rhino. I do it for extra cash, it's well worth the time & effort. Some customers want a bid, others are fine with the hourly.

Quick, I want that guy for $10./acre! Did he fall out of bed and smash his head?

What else does he do for $10/acre?

What a bargain!

10.00 is about the going rate in my area. The
county asc office has a costom rate chart
from Ohio State U. for ohio. That's about the
medium rate.

Around here there is a guy who mowes & roto-tills with an old Ford Major, he has a 5' brush-hog, 5 years ago he was charging $45 per hour, I figured that was cheap considering all the rocks he hits, old wire fencing that gets wound up in the blades and stump-jumper and anything else hidden in the grass.
I have done some custom mowing with a NH Ford 3010 and a 6' mower, I charge $50. per/hr, and before I do a job I run through the feild on my ATV looking for the surprises.

I thought $10.00 was cheap too... didn't get his name as it was a passing comment made by a dealer. Before I did my own, I paid a guy $25.00/hr and it would cost me about 8 hrs of wk. to get 20 acres done.
Funny thing... still comes out to $10.00/acre!
