Seems the hydraulic fluid is getting really hot
after about 1/2 an hour. To the point where it
will affect power stearing and the loader lift
capacity.

I've changed fluid and filter. Found part of an
o-ring when I removed the filter. Removing the
broken o-ring seemed to help a little. Anyone
have had experience with something like this?

Thanks,
Mark

Fluid gets hot enough that I can not touch the
casing around my feet. Can also smell that
funny sweet smell of hot hydraulics.

Power steering will intermitently fail at this
point and the loader will not lift under
moderate load.

Thanks for the help

You have an open center system, not a closed center, as Gerald suggests. Check to see if the engine labors from a load on the hyd pump when the 3 point hitch is raised all the way. If so, this is caused by the external follow-up linkage being out of adjustment, causing the hitch valve to remain open, causing all the pump output to go over relief at full pressure. The linkage is located at the right end of the rockshaft, and will need to be lengthened to fix the problem, if that is the cause of your troubles. Low oil level can do it ,too. How hot does the oil get?

Somewhere, where that broken o-ring came from, there's a leak from pressure and that squirt is making the pump work overtime trying to hold pressure and heating the oil.

A leak is the typical problem causing heating on a closed center system which I presume you have.

Sometimes you can trace a leak by the hot pipes feeding it and collecting the leaked oil.
