At the risk of sounding like a know-it-all to Woodbeef, I will answer your question. I've worked on a few tractors with those chips on them - the most recent was an 8200 with the three position box on it. It had off, low and high positions. It appeared to add around 15 horsepower in the low position and around 25 in the high position, so it definitely does increase output. Be forewarned that those boxes can cause some problems. They ocasssionally will affect your idle speed or cause an erratic idle speed. Some also function by basically putting the governor in it's max fuel position all the time, which will eliminate any "power bulge" when pulling the tractor in the field. Also, depending on the year and hours on your tractor, you may not be aware that emissions equipment (fuel injection pump, nozzles, turbocharger etc) are covered by a longer 5000 hour warranty, that goes past normal tractor warranty. Installing one of those boxes will instantly void that warranty. My overall take is that they're not worth the money, and not worth the risk of damaging the engine or ECU for a few extra horses. Just as much power could probably be gained by removing the pump and sending it to a service center to be checked and calibrated to the high end of factory specs.

i agree with g-man, they may give some more horsepower, but if you are pulling something and hit a hard spot that tractor is just going to fall flat on its face beacuase you took the power buldge away, and plus if you install this and the right person see's this, you can get a pretty hefty fine for messing with the emissions. i think it is up around $10,000
