Discussion Forum Topic: 1586 tachometer [Return to Forum] Author [expand] [Modern View] steve j 03-17-2003 20:21:19 204.77.165.54 6517 Report to Moderator my tachometer is not reading right it reads way high on the r.p.m.s sometimes it reads lower when you give it throttle I borrrowed different tach from someone. and it made no difference. It is located on the right side of the clutch housing where you access the flywheel to find the timing marks. The unit is in the cover plate and requires a 7/16" wrench to remove 2 - 1/4" bolts. You may have to remove the lower flood-light assembly. The end of the sender may be covered with oil or may simply be bad. You can also adjust the unit in or out. Good luck!
