Any thoughts on the compact tractors with funny name like Koyker and Yanmar? The are priced reasonably and have implements that match, but how well do they run and how many problems do they have? It seems like they couldnt be too durable at the low price.

The Japaneese stuff is pretty good.

The Chineese stuff is not very good, and hard
to depend on a machine sold from the back of
a truck & no parts support....

The grey market tractors are cheaper, but the
same applies as above to them, only parts are
harder to find.

Never heard of the loader manufaturer
building a tractor, so not sure you have your
names right, but perhaps this is what you
wanted to know. These days China is
dumping little tractors on the USA by the
containerload, and many companies are
re-labeling them - but it is all China junk.
Castings, fit & finish, & leaking gaskets are a
problem.

Hi, All the compacts sold in this country are made by the japanese manufacturers that you refer to., except Koyker, they are a loader manufacturer and make there own loaders, as well as loaders for several manufacturers.
please see the list below, and visit my website
@www.kennystractors.com.

yanmar-makes john deere diesel compacts
mitsubishi- makes small cases, and the diesel
cub cadets
iseki- makes the compact massey-ferg., and has
made the bolens and white line
hinomoto- makes the larger cases, and previously
made the masseys
shibura- makes the ford new hollands.

The SAME and Landini compacts are made in Italy, and some compacts are made in India, Korea and other places too.

Grey market tractors, are tractors that "weren't made for the U.S. market". Dealers import them from "other countries" and sell them here for a lower price. They can be hard to get parts for EVEN if that same company "does" make a tractor for the U.S. market!!
