I remember dad having an 8430 with a block heater. That heater needed to be plugged in for a long time in order to start that tractor. We usually had it inside a building plugged in all night long. It helped to heat the intake manifold. That warm air maked the diesel fire better.
I have a 4010 with a 1500 watt tank type heater on it. As soon as I get the time it is going to be replaced with a 2000 watt heater. Most of the time I plug my tractor in and then I like to be able to start it within 2 hours. My tractor sits out in the big open and needs all the help it can get. However if I need to start it asap, then out comes the tarp, 3 pieces of 6 inch stove pipe with 90 degree elbow, and the propane torch. It is amazing how much heat comes out the end of the elbow (running the torch at the end of the straight pipe keeps the flame away from the tractor).
On your 5020 I would plumb in a tank heater, put it on a timer, sit back and smile as she cooks.
