Carruth on January 23, 2005 at 14:57:38: Try loosening the bolts that hold on the starter. leave a little play between the starter and the block. Then try starting it. Sometimes esp. if the starter you got back is an exchange unit the gear will not engage with the flywheel but will 'click' up against it. Leaving the starter loose will help you eliminate this problem, but obviously it is only a very temporary solution.
