Pat
Let me start by saying that I have a 2wd 1566 with the 43 gallon fuel tank which will last 6 hours before running out of fuel in the middle of the field. On a older JD, I had a similar problem. I was able to partially solve this wheel hop problem by removing some of the weight on the front end. I believe that you are maxed out on the draft. The front end hop will go away if the front wheels can slip. The rear wheels will also slip but the tractor is designed to operate with 10% slip on the rear wheels. The front wheel drive is only intended to assist in pulling. If you are using a mounted implement such as a chiesel or ripper shanks, try to increase the draft control to reduce the pull. I realize that you may not accomplish your tillage needs but the front end hop will go away. Your tractor may not have a differential lock which would reduce the load on the front drive train. My 1566 with duals does not have a lock-up rear end. Good luck.

Ray
