Re: need advicePosted by Ford Man on April 15, 2001 at 03:23:29 from (152.163.197.82): In Reply to: need advice posted by mike salee on April 14, 2001 at 21:30:14: I'd go for the Ford 3000, but only if it is a Ford Force model (or mark II) these can be told apart from earlier ones by having "FORD 3000" all the way down the side of the bonnet. Also avoid the tractor if it has Select-o-speed transmission (a early form of powershift) as these wear quite badly and have earnt the nickname "Jerk-o-matic". The MF is a good solid tractor with I guess a Perkins engine. If you need power the MF is a better choice but the Ford is likely to be more reliable, however the Fords don't like cold weather that much for starting. If you buy the 3000 buy a can of Easy Start with it!!!! Good luck
