If condition, price and features are similar, buy the Ford. If Ford Man thinks the 3000 will be a hard cold start, he hasn't had much to do with Perkins engines like in the Massey. A 3000 will start as good as anything built at the time with proper battery, cables, compression and the use of thermostart. An older one with the inline Sims injection pump has the excess fuel override, another cold start aid.
