I have heard a lot of bragging by IH fans about how their 1066 makes 170 hp or 180 hp or how they have run it for years at even 200 hp! Most of all, these people claim this performace from the factory! And a 1066 was "rated" at 125hp. 1466s got even more extravagant claims of actual power. I saw on a post on RED POWER this was due to lax quality control at IHC during the 70s. IH people probably did get the kind of extra power they always claimed, but now those tractors are 20-30 years old and are quite frankly discounted because buyers quite properly suspect they have been run for years in an "overpowered" condition and are WORN OUT. This is why these tractors bring so little at resale versus tractors which only delivered their "Nebraska" rating from when they were new. I haven't seen a good resale reputation for higher hp Case "70" series, but Fords and ACs do not seem to suffer because people think they are "worn out" or "abused". If the 1466 in question is very low hours, perhaps it is an excellent tractor. If it shows a lot of hours... buy the AC 7080 or the Ford!
