My guess is you are getting air in the system. They were good for that. You can take the water seperator out, that should help some. Could be the return lines from the injectors leaking, could be about anything really. Try finding a friend that likes to smell like diesel and during that first cranking of the morning, press the valve stem on the fuel filter and see if any air comes out. Some should.
