I also have a 89 Ford 7.3, 155,000 miles, I also have a similar problem if I park with the front end up hill. I mentioned this to a friend, and he said its the check valve in the fuel pump allowing some of the fuel to seep back past the pump, thus getting some air in the line. Now we just try to be sure to park it with the front end down hill, no problem. Are you parking with the front end up hill? If so, try my trick.
