First thing, check the shift linkage adjustment. If caught soon enough, it can be fixed before any major damage. If your tractor has a "POWER QUAD" transmission, DEERE had a program to update the shifting mechanisim to the later 6000 TEN style shifter. This program is no longer in effect. The shift linkage adjustment should be done by someone who has done a few as it is slightly complicated. Best bet : see the nearest JD dealer. Good Luck.
