Kawisaki engine on my Kubota question

I Purchased an 1860G Kubota to mow our three acre yard last year and really like the thing but....
It is becoming increasingly hard to start when cold, forget it when the temps are below 40 degrees. I have noticed gasoline running from a tube ( float bowl overflow??) when it's shut down after mowing. Dealer says he'll look at it for a pretty steep charge and I hate to have to haul it there so I want to try and tackle this myself.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
