I recently added 15 acres of rolling pasture to my N.Georgia homestead, and now need a real tractor. I will be doing some bushhogging and augering fenceposts to try to stay ahead of the horses. I spent my money on the land, so I don't have a bundle to pay for a late model tractor.
My neighbor has a 1972 IH-454 diesel for sale at $5,000. From what I've seen and read, it gets good overall reviews. I've also looked around my local used tractor yards and found mostly junk for under $5,000. Are there any 20-30 year old classic MF, JD, Ford or other diesel tractors that you can recommend that are relatively small, can pull a 5' bush hog, auger stiff red clay, and will remain a classic if I treat it right?
WHAT MAKE, MODEL & YEAR WOULD YOU RECOMMEND I LOOK FOR WITH A $5,000 BUDGET?
