The MCV needs to come off and have new springs and orings installed which will allow you to realign the gear in question on reinstallation. I definately would go with an Allied TA and they also have the MCV rebuild kit. The kit includes a good rebuild procedure sheet, pretty easy to follow. Also necessary is to replace the pump which is mounted to the back side of the MCV. I just completed a complete rebuild of a trans, TA, and changing the reverse driven gear on a 1086.
