I have a small 20HP Ford 4wd with hydro that I really enjoy for light landscaping and garden work. That hydro pedal can't be beat for those times where a lot of forward/reverse changes are needed (like loader work). One thing to check - this tractor has a lock lever for the hydro that works well. Mostly this tractor is used for mowing and you set your ground speed with the foot pedal and 'lock' it at that point with the lever. It's just like a gear drive after that - no pedal pressure required. I'm sure other manufacturers have the same concept. The tractors that I pull hard have gear transmissions so I can't comment on how the hydro does in situations where it's used for plowing/disking/cultivating.
