I said i don't think you can beat up the med. duty cutter with your tractor!
As for lifting it. That's measured by the PSI of your hydraulic pump, and even more so by how big the lift cyclinders are inside your tractor. Does it say in your manual how much your PTO is rated to lift??
The skirt is 1/4" on both cutters, and that's where cutters take a beating. The HD has a 150 HP gear box, instead of 120 hp. The drive line in the HD is cat.5 instead of cat.4, and as you said, the deck is thicker on the HD.
It seem these days cutters are rated for smaller stuff even though in some cases the newer cutters are built stronger.
The med. duty cutter is way over kill on a 36hp tractor!!! You will stall the engine, or break your PTO before you kill the cutter.
Cut the big stuff with a chain saw!!!
