I have a 4050MFWD with the 6359 engine. It has about 7000 hours on it and runs perfectly. It will pull a 3 bottom 18" plow through anything, even heavy adobe without even noticing it (I'm sure I The 6359 engines for the 4050's were made in Saran France. I've heard from numerous dealers that the 3659 engine was used world wide in more applications than any other engine Deere ever made. Interestingly, they don't seem to make it anymore, As with all diesel engines, HP/torque is really a function of how much fuel you put into the cylinder (yes, displacement counts for something too). The 359 as well as 466 comes set up for a variety of power ratings. I find it interesting that my pickup truck has a 360 cu.in. Cummins diesel and is rated at 215 HP. I know Cummins makes that particular engine with up to 300 HP. So, the JD 6359, assuming it's fairly similar in design, running at 130HP is really running well under it's design limit. This will equate to a long lasting engine. Oh, yes, the 4050 is rated at 105 HP at the PTO, according to my engine manual, the engine flywheel HP is 130.
