Those rocks are going to be hard on a finish mower!! Do you need that fine of a cut?? As was all ready suggested, a rotary cutter will cut pretty good, and take the rocks easier. My choise in rotary cutters is the Woods Brush Bull.
Personally, i'd get a 2wd, "gear drive" utility tractor for your aplication. They are built a lot stronger than a compact, and cost about the same $$. A 40 PTO hp utility tractor will easily pull a bigger mower, and with maintance will probably out live you! It will all so easily out live a compact tractor!
Most of the people that buy a compact tractor would be better off with a utility tractor,
