Gehl 1475 round baler tie problemPosted by karl f on August 08, 2002 at 23:38:09 from (63.21.83.147):
our 4 year old baler is exibiting a peculiar problem in the tying cylcle. it has the automatic tie system for twine only (HUGE control box). at the end of the cycle, it will not return to "home" which means the twine never gets cut off. sometimes it will indicate "OpEn gAtE" or "SEt"==it isn't too predictable. i have tried adjusting the end wrap position switch plate, which doesn't help---either it doesn't return or else it will return without wrapping the end if it is adjusted to do so. the setting for number of wraps seems to make some difference when the swtich plate is set to eliminate the end wrap--2 or less will skip the end wrap, 3 or more will infinitely stay at the end wrap. pulling the twine arm back physically near the end of the cycle seems to have the cycle resume normally and finish correctly. i've tried all hardware and software adjustments possible, and lubed the heck out of the twine arm mechanism...anyone have any ideas on what to do, where to go? there doesn't seem to be any on-board-diagnostics for this particular control system either.
