1. Selct make, model, features
2. Call 4 closest dealers and request quote
3. Take low quote to other 3 dealers
4. If any beat it, go back through with the new low quote, dropping the high fig.
5. When nobody moves anymore on price, buy.

Takes about a week. Equipment dealers are much more independent than car dealers, have a lot more freedom to set price. What I prefer is to look at a used equipment guide, so I know what a 1 or 2 year old piece sells for and then call the dealer and ask what they have that they want to deal on. Have done really well getting tractors and equip. priced right.
