How much tractor do I need?

This must have been covered before, but I looked through all the messages and didn't find anything. I recently purchased 36 acres vacant land that I eventually want to make into a horse farm. I've never purchased a tractor, and I don't know how much I need. I want to put in a 600 foot drive way, and eventually a small access road along the edge of the property. I have lots of drainage work to do (both ditches and tiling)because the land is quite flat. I'll put in lots of posts for fencing. I can certainitly use an 8-foot bush hog and eventually a finishing mower, but I'd be willing to go with a 6-foot to stay in a smaller tractor. I was originally looking in the 35-38 HP range, but a friend of mine thought I'd be sorry if I got anything less than a 50 HP. I don't mind taking extra time to do things with a smaller tractor, I just don't want to destroy it by using a tractor that is too small for the job. Any thoughts?
