180 vs 360 degree machines

I've been given a 50th birthday present of a digger-driving course. I have no experience of this.
My question is: are the excavator controls for a 180 degree slew arm digger (eg JCB) pretty much the same as for a 360 degree tracked digger?

If I do the course on one type, will it be easy to translate to the other?
