What you need to be careful of is that the lead ratio is where it should be. Most of the MFWA tractors built since about 1996 have a mechanical ratio of 1.333 (1 complete turn of rear wheels = 1 1/3 turns of front wheels). The tires need to be setup so that the front tires have a positive lead ratio between 1% and 5%.

To calculate the lead ratio use the following formula.

RCI = rolling circumference index

((front tire RCI x front to rear gear ratio) / (rear tire RCI)-1) x 100

*NOTE* It is possible to come up with a negative number. Remember the Lead needs to be between 1% and 5% (positive)

RCI ractings can be obtained from your local tire dealer.

It is also important to note that the Mechanical lead for your model may not be exactly 1.33. It is necessary to determine exactly what it is by contacting your local dealer.
