3 point hitch choices

Good afternoon,
I've just acquired my first tractor, a JD 4300, and am trying to learn as much about safety and proper usage as I can. This machine is used primarily for mowing 4 acres (with a 60" deck), but also has attachments that include 6' disk, 6' bush-hog, post hole digger, utility bucket and a 4' blade. I've got about 16 acres to work on total. I have 2 questions. 1) Links to good howto articles and sites. 2) What is the difference between the 3 possible attachment points for the top lift arm?
