Need a Good Small TractorPosted by Tom Detweiler on July 05, 2000 at 13:09:58 from (207.173.132.61):
Howdy everyone-- I need your collective advice on buying a good hard-working SMALL tractor for a 4-acre hilly ranch in the Sierra foothills-- mostly clay soil and lotsa rocks. I have a Fergie TO-30 already and use it for the "big jobs" around the homestead-- but on the upper, access and space are both limited and I need a small but versatile and powerful "little guy" to do the work my back no longer can. I have a Craftsman 16HP "Lawn tractor", and it helps but has no 3-point hitch, hydraulics, PTO and few attachments, plus power is pretty limited. I need something more powerful, with the versatility, but also small enough (about the size of the Craftsman garden tractor) to get in and out of the orchard terraces and around the trees. Anybody out there using anything like that, or any models anybody can recommend me looking at?? Something that could handle 3-point stuff, has a front scraper blade or even front loader, like that? Thanks in Advance!
