I have the same problem with my Scotts 1642, same transmission. I've been getting less and less power. to the point of stalling out in reverse and crawling up hills. If you remove the battery, and clean all the debris from the top of the transmission case, you will find two rubber plugs. I've been doing some 'forum' searching myself how to fix this problem. If you get this problem solved, please drop me an email. I hate to have to bring it into the shop if its a simple fix.
