JD 4400 or New Holland TC40/TC45Posted by Alan on January 05, 2001 at 05:37:43 from (63.14.3.247): Looking for advice on Tractor purchase. Have about 52 acres to play with as follows: 7.5 acre yard, 18-20 acres pasture, rest wooded. Am planning on putting strips of 'food plots' (5-6 acres at most) in pasture. Considering John Deere 4400 (about 35 gross hp) versus New Holland TC-40 (40 Gross HP) or TC-45 (45 Gross HP). Plan is to use 6' Bush Hog, HD Commercial Tiller (72"), Finish Mower and Front End Loader. Price on JD is about $27,500 with equipment listed above. I can get both the 40HP & 45 HP new Holland with the equipment listed for about $24,500 & $27,000 respectively. My question is: What is everyone's experience with these and Should I go for the higher HP New Hollands given they are only slightly more expensive? Any thoughts on this? Thanks
