WOW DO NOT add ATF or used motor oil to your diesel fuel.
On the road diesel (non dyed) has much of its lubricity removed durring the process of removing the sulfer. Ag diesel still has all of the sulfer and lubricity left. There are alot of additives that can be added to diesel to improve lubricity. Stanadyne, Delphi(used to be Lucas/CAV), and Bosche all sell their own additives. The big thing about additives is not to overapply them. While the correct amount is good too much will destroy an injection pump.
Keep this in mind, the clearances in all newer pumps allow for about 2-4 molecules of fuel to act as lubricant between the moving and stationary parts. Get anything else in there and the pump is shot.
