I bough a tractor that had had this done. A/C neverf worked right until I got an A/C tech to pull a vacuum on the system and then recharge. When you lose refridgerant air typically enters the system. Then you get bubbles. If you just dump R-134 in the system even if it is dry it still has air in it. The air remains a gas when the refridgerant compresses to a liquid and reduces effieciency, plus those air bubbles cause caitation in the compressor. The oil is ok but the lack of vacumm is a problem.
