Live vs Independent PTO

Posted by Bill on July 07, 2000 at 19:33:56 from (216.12.53.37):

What are the advantages of a live vs independent PTO. Why would one need a "ground speed" PTO. And finally what equipment requires a 1000 rpm PTO speed vs the 540. Is there an advantage to one over the other? In terms of maintainence, which is more reliable/easy to service, the live or independent PTO?

Sorry for all the questions!

Thanks,
Bill
