In place of the fuse jumper in a auto motive headlamp with the high & low beams in the circuit.Now when the short occurs during trouble shooting the light will go full bright white from a dimmer/orange colour.
You could then start by removing one load form the switch and cycling to see if the "short occurs.
Could even be an internally failing switch.

Any history on this tractor such as fires, mice, spilled chemicals or home brew tinkering to add electrical accessories?
